Walnut has long been known as a fine hardwood. Its heartwood is a dark chocolate brown. Sapwood is white but is usually steamed in the kiln to bleed some of the darker heartwood into it. A dark walnut stain is recommended for our walnut doors to blend the sapwood with the heartwood. Botanical name: Juglans Nigra Noticeable differences in color and graining may occur between the above sample and finished doors.
