Douglas fir is a fine grained wood with excellent stability and rot resistance. That is why it is a great choice for exterior doors. Our Douglas fir doors look great painted, stained or with a clear finish. Our horizontal 5-panel design with raised panels is our most popular interior fir door. The 5 panel fir doors were used extensively in mid 20th century homes and are still popular in new homes of today. Vertical grain Douglas fir is the most common, but plain sawn is also available.
